Golden domes* of Russia
Golden domes of churches
Are filling our souls with light
Among the blue snows,
Among the flower fields,
Under the high skies of Russia.
Golden domes are shining,
We can see them from afar
Among the blue snows,
Among the flower fields.
They are always with us.
We live our lives here,
Where we learned to love and dream,
Among the blue snows,
Among the flower fields,
Among the golden forests of Russia.
And the chiming of church bells
Is touching our hearts
Among the blue snows,
Among the flower fields.
It helps us to love and forget.
That chiming is coming from afar,
From the clear, shining sky,
To the blue snows,
To the flower fields,
To the golden forests of Russia.
* The multidomed church with golden domes is a typical form of Russian church architecture that distinguishes Russia from other Orthodox nations and Christian denominations. You can find very many such churches in Russia, and so the golden domes are one of the symbols of the country even among non-religious people.
